February 2026

February reminded us exactly why The Sorn Foundation exists.

This month, we welcomed 7 new students from 3 families living in extreme poverty.

These families were surviving in makeshift shanty huts with no sanitation, no safe water, and no security — conditions no child should ever have to call home.

We didn’t hesitate.

As soon as we understood the reality of their situation, we sprang into action. One family is now living in a new tin house, providing safety, shelter, and dignity. We have also built a shared bathroom, giving multiple families access to basic sanitation for the very first time. Work is planned to repair the two remaining homes so that all families can live in safer, healthier conditions.

Several of the children arrived unwell, suffering from scabies — a painful but treatable condition that spreads quickly in overcrowded living environments. We immediately took them to the doctor, ensured they received the correct medication, and provided food, clean bedding, and clothes so they could begin to heal properly.

This is what your support makes possible. Not just education — but urgent action, protection, health, dignity, and hope. Because for these children, school is not just a place to learn — it’s a lifeline.

Thank you for standing with us, and with the families who need it most.
